Redness & Rosacea
Redness and rosacea are common skin conditions that can be caused by any number of genetic or environmental factors. Generally, rosacea results in visible blood vessels, or small, red, bumps on the face. In most cases, symptoms flare up for anywhere from a few weeks to several months and then diminish for a period.
Though rosacea can easily be mistaken for allergic reactions, acne, or other skin issues–it is a unique medical condition without a “cure.” However, Dr. Kabiri offers a range of treatment options to reduce symptoms and control rosacea flare-ups.
At Dr. Kabiri’s West Vancouver office, our entire expert team is here to help make your experience as safe, easy, and satisfying as possible. If you want to learn more about our services, keep reading. We’ll cover everything you need to know about Redness & Rosacea treatment.

IPL Photorejuvenation
IPL Photorejuvenation is one of the most exciting modern innovations in age-defying medical-grade skincare. Completely non-invasive, IPL treatments can reduce visible skin imperfections without any disturbance of the skin’s surface. After your first session, you’ll see a reduction in the signs of sun damage and photoaging with an incredibly short recovery time.
What’s more, IPL poses little to no risk of any discomfort or complications. Dr. Kabiri can help you to restore your skin’s youthful, natural glow without any need for rough dermabrasion or chemical peels. Our younger patients particularly love IPL facials’ ability to help them feel refreshed and relaxed without any of the considerations surgery requires.
How Does IPL Therapy Work?
IPL stands for ‘intense pulsed light.’ Almost like a laser, IPL photofacial technology utilizes “pulses” of highly focused, intense light aimed at the skin for brief moments at a time. The procedure is done with either a handheld wand or an articulated arm and boasts an extremely high level of precision and accuracy.
In most cases, any necessary downtime or recovery period is minimal, and discomfort is quite low (if there is any). You’ll feel a heat-like sensation and perhaps some slight pinching with each pulse of the intense light.
Most of our patients say the feeling’s like getting your eyebrows plucked. The wand itself remains cool throughout the process, which reduces any heat-like sensation. For more sensitive patients, Dr. Kabiri can also provide a cooling gel.
As for side effects, your risk is quite low. If anything out of the ordinary does occur, symptoms range from mild bruising or blistering to a temporary darkening of the skin’s pigmentation. These effects typically correct themselves in the days following treatment.
Though IPL photofacials are highly sufficient in treating rosacea and redness, the procedure can be used on a wide range of skin troubles. Vein removal, telangiectasias (small dilated blood vessels), sun damage, uneven pigmentation, and even certain benign tumors, like hemangioma, can all be easily addressed with this groundbreaking technology.
Though IPL is most commonly used on the facial regions (hence “photofacial”), it can be applied to other parts like neck and upper chest regions as well.
Venus Viva Radiofrequency
Venus Viva™ is another versatile treatment that works wonders on a range of skin issues from rosacea to acne scars, skin texture improvement, reduction of wrinkles and fine lines, stretch marks, and more. This procedure is one of the gold standards of facial rejuvenation.
It’s safe, non-invasive, and you’ll quickly see exceptional results that last.
How Venus Viva Works
Venus Viva is safe for all skin types thanks to innovative NanoFractional Radio Frequency™(RF) and SmartScan™ technology. Delivering long-lasting results with insignificant discomfort has never been easier, and we are proud to offer this improved experience for our clients.
Because it features a revolutionary new pin design, Venus Viva can expedite your skin’s coagulation process much faster than traditional fractional treatments by creating micro dermal wounds. Venus Viva also utilizes the patented SmartScan feature for NanoFractional Radio Frequency delivery, which reduces patient discomfort and allows for multiple pattern selections for faster, less complicated treatments.
Venus Viva represents a considerable step forward in fractional skincare. It boasts increased safety, improved energy delivery, and incredible versatility when it comes to treatment sizes. Further, the wide-ranging levels of ablation mean enhanced efficacy and reduced recovery time.
You can expect to have smoother, more vibrant, youthful-looking skin in as few as three to four 15 minute sessions. Some patients may experience minimal discomfort or slight redness, which usually dissipates within two to three days. You’ll be free to apply concealer or any makeup of your choosing after one day.
Vbeam Perfecta – PDL
If you’re interested in trying the top cosmetic laser technology to address skin concerns, Vbeam Perfecta® (the world’s top-selling pulsed-dye laser) could be right for you.
Often referred to as a “vascular laser,” Vbeam Perfecta is especially useful in treating issues related to the body’s network of blood vessels. It can also safely and efficiently target superficial pigmentation discolorations, as well as a variety of other issues including:
- Acne Scars
- Facial & Spider Veins
- Leg Veins
- Pigmented Lesions
- Rosacea
- Scar Treatment
- Striae (Stretch Marks)
- Vascular Lesions
- Warts
Another surprising application of Vbeam is to speed up the healing of any post-treatment bruising caused by other cosmetic or surgical procedures.
The Ideal Vbeam Perfect Candidate
Vbeam works very well on pale skin and moderately well on olive skin. People with darker skin have a higher risk of skin hyperpigmentation after the laser treatment, so they should be tread with caution. We’re happy to discuss other options if you are a patient with a higher level of risk associated with Vbeam treatment.
That said, Vbeam is safe and gentle enough to treat vascular abnormalities on infants.
Vbeam is not appropriate for pregnant women or patients who have taken Accutane for the past six months. Certain medications, particularly blood thinners, may increase the risk of side effects, so you must talk to a trusted doctor about your medical history before moving forward.
FAQs
IPL treatments at our West Vancouver offices usually take just about 30 minutes.
The minimal treatment time is one of our patient’s favorite parts of this procedure, and why it’s become known as a “lunch break facial.” Some patients will see results after their first visit, but most opt for between three and five sessions to achieve optimal results. Each session’s usually scheduled about three weeks apart.
Absolutely! Radio Frequency has been used in medicine for many years and is a confirmed, safe, and effective technology. Your treatment supplier will thoroughly review your personal medical history and take into account your aesthetic goals to see if the Venus Viva treatment is right for you.
Most of our clients see significant results in as little as three treatments. With that said, we recommend most of our clients continue for a full series of six treatments for the face and eight to ten treatments on the body for optimal results.
Patients with darker skin have a higher risk of Vbeam, causing pigmentation, so tread with caution.
Immediately after treatment, your skin will feel warm, red, and slightly swollen, similar to a mild sunburn. Any discomfort should subside within a few hours to a week. There may also be some slight bruising (purpura) at the treatment site, which usually fades within the first one to two weeks. Also, pigmentation areas may appear darker for up to a week after treatment until new spot-free skin surfaces.
Typically, there is mild to no discomfort associated with Vbeam.
The Vbeam has a built-in Integrated Dynamic Cooling Device that sprays a cold (cryogen) mist across the skin, eliminating any discomfort beyond a warm, tingling sensation while the doctor glides it across your skin.
We can achieve dramatic and permanent results with only a single treatment. However, a series of Vbeam treatments may be required for ideal and lasting results depending on the area of concern. Therefore, it’s best to consult with a trusted cosmetic doctor who specializes in Vbeam to determine the best course of action.
