Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing

Fractional CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing West Vancouver

When you can no longer ignore your fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and sun damage, laser skin resurfacing can make a stunning difference in your skin. Exclusively performed by Dr. Kabiri in her West Vancover clinic, this advanced cosmetic laser technology helps you regain your beautiful glow without surgery. Enjoy natural-looking, dramatic results when you smooth skin texture and brighten tone with fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing.

First approved by the FDA in 2007, fractional carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers are one of the most technologically advanced options for non-surgical skin rejuvenation available today. These lasers spur the body’s production of collagen, the protein responsible for skin firmness and rejuvenation. More collagen leads to tighter, smoother, and healthier-looking skin. A collagen-stimulating powerhouse, the Pixel CO2 system fades fine lines, fills deeper creases around nose and eyes and tightens lax skin.

Laser skin resurfacing battles more than just aging, however. Its collagen-boosting process also fills acne and surgical scars.

How Does the Pixel CO2 Laser Work?

The Pixel CO2 laser sends microscopic carbon dioxide beams into several layers of skin. These strategically-placed beams create microscopic holes in the skin that prompt the body’s healing process. In other words: cue the collagen! This additional collagen adds both firmness and volume to the skin, two elements aging skin has lost.

Because the beams are arranged in “fragmented” patterns, the Pixel CO2 laser impacts only the 15 to 20 percent of the skin targeted for rejuvenation. These gentle lasers are even safe for the thin, delicate skin around the eyes. At the same time, they are powerful enough to visibly improve the quality of the skin on the face, neck, and chest. Even this purposefully limited treatment is enough to create astounding results, all while minimizing necessary downtime. Patients typically recover in four to seven (4-7) days.

Advantages of CO2 Laser Skin Treatment

Expect these advantages with the Pixel CO2 laser treatment.

Unlike an invasive facelift, laser repair helps you look younger by firming and tightening skin with natural collagen regeneration.

Staying out of the surgical suite saves patients money. Laser skin resurfacing doesn’t involve anesthesia, a nursing staff, or two weeks off work.

Laser skin resurfacing doesn’t involve any incisions or injections. During the procedure, patients report everything from little pain to mild pain. We always administer a topical anesthesia before the procedure and if you are sensitive to pain we could offer you a mild sedative.

Results of your laser treatment appear soon afterward, and and you’ll also benefit from ongoing firming and tightening improvements over the next few months, as your skin continues to produce new collagen. The optimal improvement manifests in three to four months, and while some results can become visible with just one treatment, many patients choose to get a series of treatments to improve even further on their initial results.

While laser skin resurfacing’s effects can last up to two years, many patients choose to keep their skin looking young with yearly treatments.

What to Expect During and After Laser Skin Treatment

Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing has a long track record of safety. Treatment sessions run 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the severity of the area being treated. We may use topical anesthesia and a mild sedative, if you wish, to minimize any discomfort you might feel during the procedure. Most side effects are mild and short-lived. Often, patients only experience temporary side effects like warm, sensitive, or swollen skin, changes in skin color, and crusting and scaling of skin. You can minimize these side effects with pain medication and ice packs.

For the first few weeks after the treatment, applying a moisturizer will prevent your skin from drying out. As with any other type of skin treatment, you should also protect your healing skin with a broad-spectrum sunblock of SPF 30 or higher.
