Q & A with Dr. Shadan Kabiri

I am very enthusiastic and passionate about my work. I enjoy every moment of my practice and never get tired as long as I can be helpful for my patients.

Regarding the medical dermatology part of my practice— I believe, as with other fields of medicine, in helping people and interacting with them in order to find out the best way to help them motivate the physician to enjoy the job, instead of all the challenges.

For the cosmetic part of the practice, I also provide and create beauty that is an art. And, like any art, it is really enjoyable and challenging. The physician has to understand the meaning of the beauty and how to apply this knowledge to the human figure.

I am very well experienced, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and passionate. I am very energetic and have a positive attitude. I am responsible for my job, even when it goes wrong, and I am always present to help and support my patients. I have a very good reputation in my profession, and I am honest, realistic, and never overpromise. I have been working more than 20 years in this field and have continually updated my knowledge.

One of my strongest skills regarding Botox & filler injections is that I create a natural result on patients’ faces. I have a strong reputation for this.

I spend enough time with the patient, never rush, and try to create a realistic expectation for them by never over promising anything.

I try to be very informative in consultations, but I am also friendly and supportive to them.

An ideal patient is a person who listens carefully to all the information, asks all the relevant questions and details, reads the brochures I give to them, and then decides what she or he wants to do.

In Iran, in the capital city of Tehran.

After graduation from high school, I attended medical school in Iran. I graduated after seven years as a general practitioner and then worked as a GP for three years. Then, I participated in a dermatology residency program and graduated as a board certified dermatologist after four years of residency in 1998. I worked as a dermatologist for four years in hospitals and my private office. I was an affiliated teacher in the Dermatology Department of Shahid Beheshti University in Iran, where I used to train dermatology residents and medical students.

I moved to Canada in 2003, where I applied and was accepted into a Family Practice residency program at the University of British Columbia in 2005 after passing the exams. I graduated from UBC as a Family Practitioner in 2007.

Since then, I have practiced as a GP/Derm physician in my private office in West Vancouver.

I also completed my Diploma of Practical Dermatology at Cardiff University in July 2014. I also became board certified by the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine in 2018.

I’m an affiliated UBC teacher and mentor family practice residents interested in taking an elective rotation in dermatology. In 2015, I achieved the Service Recognition Award from the University of British Columbia for five years of valuable, dedicated contributions to resident education.

I am a certified trainer for PRP and also train other physicians for Fillers & PRP injections. I just had an article published in the Journal of American Academy of Dermatology, entitled: “Long Term Control of Atopic Dermatitis with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma).”

I perform skin biopsies; I remove small skin cancers, nevi, cysts and other skin lesions. I also remove skin tags and warts.

Creating beauty is an art, and maintaining beauty is a science.

I combined my intelligence and knowledge with hard work and honesty to achieve my goals. The trust of my patients is very important to me. I always consider my patient’s benefit first, listen to them, and try to accomplish their wishes if they are reasonable and achievable.

I never get tired of my job.

  • Reading interesting books, news, or academic articles.
  • Watching movies is my big hobby.
  • Riding bicycles is an exercise that releases my pressure, and whenever I am free and it is not rainy in Vancouver, I go for a ride.
  • I also like long walks and shopping.
  • I love to gather with my friends, and I take any opportunity to spend my time with them.

I usually don’t care about obstacles and always find a way to solve the problem and remove the barrier.

Logical, Ambitious, Hardworking

My patients appreciate my vast knowledge of dermatology and aesthetics. They know I do care seriously for them.

I am well known as a doctor who looks to fillers & Botox injections as an art and always provides a natural look for my patients. My patients also know me as a doctor who has a cheerful personality with a good sense of humor that always has a smile on her face, even in the late afternoon.
