Until now, the most commonly used lasers for tattoo removal are traditional Q-switched nanosecond (one billionth of a second in length) lasers that cause rapid heating of the particle by short laser pulses and destroy tattoo particles by thermal energy (Photothermal stress).
New innovative Picosecond technology creates Picosecond (one trillionth of a second in length!) pulses that are 100X shorter than nanosecond technology. Ultra-short pulses hit the ink particle with a pressure so great that the particle cannot expand fast enough, leading to a buildup of pressure, which leads to particle fracture and shatters into tiny dust-like particles Photoacoustic stress). Since the particles are so small, they are more readily absorbed and eliminated by the body.
PicoClear includes a Q-Switch mode, providing options for picosecond and nanosecond pulse durations and the ability to destroy tattoo particles or pigmented lesions with both Photothermal & Photoacoustic stress.
PicoClear features high-power that can destroy ink particles in a precise manner and with less disruption to the patient’s skin. This gives the patient confidence to continue treatment and see tattoo removal all the way to the end.
